What dishwasher detergent to use that doesn't leave residue?

I am looking for a dishwasher detergent that does not leave a residue inside the dishwasher. All of the “new detergents” have a product that leaves a residue. I hand wash all of my glass ware. I have been told that I should do a white vinegar rinse and that would help.
 
I enjoy reading your articles in our paper. We will be leaving the area for the summer and regret that I will be missing your bits of info.
