For a New Twist in Hot Breads you need Diamond Walnuts

What a cheery start toward a fine day-this tasty sweet roll ring! Easy to make, with a mix-delicious to eat, with the crisp, full-flavored goodness of Diamond Walnuts!

Walnut Fruit Ring

1 pkg. hot roll mix
1 egg
1 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsps. grated orange peel
2 tbsps. melted butter
4 tbsps. soft butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped candied cherries (or dates, raisins, or any drained cooked dried fruit)
3/4 cup chopped Diamond Walnuts
1 cup powdered sugar, sherries and Diamond Walnut halves for topping.

Make sweet roll dough as package directs with these variations: Use only 3/4 cup water; add egg, sugar, peel and melted butter to yeast-water mixture, beating till blended. After first rising, roll into 14×16″ oblong, 1/4′ thick. Spread with soft butter; sprinkle with brown sugar, cherries or other fruit, and Diamond Walnuts. (Walnuts give new flavor and crunchy “body” to any hot bread-just add a few chopped walnuts to your favorite recipes!) Roll tightly as for jelly roll; seal edge. Join ends to form ring;seal. Place in a greased 9″ tube pan or ring mold. Cut deep gashes in top, an inch apart, with scissors.  Let rise as package directs; bake 35 to 40 minutes in moderate oven (350 degrees F.). While warm, glaze with powdered sugar mixed with enough water to make a thin frosting, and decorate with cherries and tempting, golden Diamond Walnut halves.
